Governor’s Palace
The Governor’s Palace in Banja Luka was constructed between 1931 and 1932 in the style of eclectic academicism, designed by architects Jovanka Bončić-Katerinič, Anđelija Pavlović, and Jovan Ranković. It served as the residence of the governor of the province, Ban Svetislav Tisa Milosavljević, until 1941. During World War II, it was used as a military and political headquarters. Only in 1955 was it repurposed as a cultural center, officially becoming the Cultural Center Banski Dvor in 1998. Although it was repurposed for cultural events, it also served as the seat of the President of Republika Srpska until the reconstruction of the Palace of Republika Srpska was completed in 2008.
The Governor’s Palace was declared a cultural heritage site and was inscribed in the register of cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1976.
The work carried out by our team included complete restoration and renovation of the facade, as well as reconstruction of the roof of this important cultural-historical building in Banja Luka.
