Altun-Alem Mosque
Altun-alem mosque (mosque with golden alem-precious stone) from the 16th century, the work of the Ottoman Muslihudin Abdulgani, is one of the most beautiful buildings of Islamic architecture in Serbia. In the complex surrounded by a high wall, next to the mosque there is also a mekteba (school), as well as about 50 niches.
Altun-alem mosque is a cultural monument that is under multiple degrees of protection. It is located within the spatial cultural-historical complex "Novopazar fortress with the old bazaar and the complex around the Altun alem mosque", which has been declared an immovable cultural asset of exceptional importance, and as an integral part of the spatial cultural-historical complex "Stari Ras with Sopoćani" is located on the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage.
It is precisely for these reasons that the ongoing works on the mosque (main body, porch and minaret) must be carried out and presented authentically with all its characteristics and given limitations.
