The interior of the church of St. Cyril and Methodius in Sarajevo, like many other Jesuit churches, is characterized by lavish decoration. Architect Josip Vancaš, in addition to the main architectural project, also worked on the interior design, harmonizing the interior furnishings with the exterior appearance of the church. The interior is richly furnished, although the realization took longer due to a lack of funds.
Altars:
The altars of the church, five of them, were made in Tyrol, in the workshop of Fernandin Stuflesser and St. Urlich, and represent the Neo-Renaissance style. Lavishly decorated with wood carvings, with gilded flower motifs and volutes, each of the altars is unique. The main altar, located in the apse, is dedicated to Slavic saints, St. Cyril and Methodius. On all three levels, the altar is rich in detail, including wood carvings and an altarpiece depicting St. Cyril and Methodius. Side altars, dedicated to St. Joseph and St. Aloysius, they are located in the wings of the church, and the auxiliary altars are decorated with sculptures that dominate their appearance.
Pulpit:
On the west side of the church is the pulpit, designed according to the designs of Josip Vancaš from 1896. This exquisite work of woodcarving is decorated with floral and geometric ornaments and pays special attention to details, including the figures of Christ and the bishop on the sides of the pulpit.
Wall painting:
Painting of the church began in 1896 and lasted until 1900. Artists Oton Iveković and Ivana Kobilca created monumental frescoes and paintings covering themes from the lives of saints.
