Zindan Gate

Zindan Gate, often called Spanish Gate, is a significant historical monument within the Belgrade Fortress. This impressive gate dates back to the 18th century and is one of the few remaining elements of the original fortress. The name “Zindan” comes from the Turkish word for dungeon, as it is believed that this gate served as an entrance to the fortress dungeons. Its monumental stone facade, arches, and architectural beauty make it a popular tourist attraction. Today, Zindan Gate bears witness to the rich history of the Belgrade Fortress and attracts visitors from around the world.
