Monastery of Gračanica
The Monastery of Gračanica is considered an extraordinary achievement of Serbian medieval art and was built between 1321 and 1327. This complex is located near Priština and belongs to the Raška-Prizren Eparchy, being the endowment of King Milutin. It was designed by the architect Vitus from Kotor and stylistically stands out as a subtle blend of early Raška style and late Byzantine influence.
Due to its historical and religious significance, remarkable architecture, and valuable frescoes, it has been declared a cultural monument of exceptional importance, and its value has been recognized globally by UNESCO, which included it on its World Heritage List in 2006.
During the restoration works, our team was dedicated to the conservation of frescoes in the southern chapel, wall paintings in the main church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the restoration of the Gračanica Charter. This process involved thorough cleaning of damaged surfaces, precise restoration, and conservation to preserve the exceptional value of these artistic works and to safeguard the richness of Serbian cultural heritage.
