Mimara Museum

The building of the Mimara Museum, formerly the School Forum, is the largest building complex of Zagreb architecture of the 19th century. The museum was opened to the public in 1987 at Roosevelt Square 5, in Zagreb.

Objekat muzeja Mimara pretrpio je velika oštećenja u potresu 2020. godine. Vidljivo je oštećen strop reprezentativne svečane dvorane na drugom spratu, te celi krovni dio atrijuma. Pukotine se protežu na brojnim mestima interijera i eksterijera.

The project for the complete renovation of the Mimara Museum building began in 2023, while the interior restoration and conservation work began in May 2024.
The conservation and restoration works include the restoration of all the walls and ceiling of the entrance hall, atrium, southern and northern staircases and the ceremonial hall. The total developed area intended for restoration is over 4,000 m2.

After the conservation and restoration intervention, ornamental, floral, and geometric painting executed in warm and cold tones, as well as traces of gilding on the decorative elements in almost all positions, were observed.

The completion of the conservation and restoration works is scheduled for the beginning of 2026.
