Trajan's Board

Trajan's board with the inscription is a memorial monument to the Roman emperor Trajan, which marks the completion of works on the alignment of the coastal road and the improvement of traffic connections of the lower Danube gorge. The board measures 8.20mx 3.85m and is accessible by water. It represents a relief field with a text in 6 lines in Latin located in the center and framed by a rectangular border measuring 3.40mx1.75m. At the end of the 19th century, a water drain was carved to protect against water that flowed down the surface of the vertical rock, forming a triangular shape similar to a tympanum with the existing frame of the board. The Latin name TABULA TRIANA is engraved within this triangular space.

The main goal is survey work related to static stabilization and conservation restoration work on slabs and rock mass with the undertaking of preventive measures for their stabilization and protection. As part of these works, a detailed inspection and determination of the state of the stone block and rock mass, cracks and other damage, and the definition of the cause of their occurrence and the method of static rehabilitation are carried out.
