Wooden Church - Vranići

The ”brvnara„ (wooden) church of the Forty Martyrs in Vranići originally existed in the 18th century at a different location but was moved to its current site in the early 20th century. According to an official report from 1823, a new church was built on the foundations of the old one.

The church is constructed from oak logs and features a seven-sided apse and a narthex separating the nave from the apse with arcades. Decoratively carved and painted northern and western doors add to the architectural richness of the church. The iconostasis paintings are attributed to the renowned zograf (icon painter) Konstantin, who worked on a series of iconostases for wooden churches across Serbia during the second and third decades of the 19th century. Besides the exceptional collection of icons, Vranići also preserves church furniture from the 18th century.

The brvnara church in Vranići is under the protection of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade, emphasizing its importance as an immovable cultural heritage of great significance.

As part of the work carried out by our team of experts, reconstruction and restoration work was performed on the roof, drainage system installation, and landscaping in the vicinity of the church.
